2019 Videography
I wanted to capture the essence of life experiences in 2019 from beginning to end of the year.
Painful growth allows you to grow and become a better person/“adulting" It's hard to see it in the moment, but all things will pass, painful times and good times. So when you are feeling pain, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, just know that it will pass. Experience it, live through it, try to make yourself feel happier and focus on other things in life, but know that it will pass with time. And when you are experiencing a good time, really enjoy and cherish it. because it too will pass.
Beginning of 2019 was a rough patch and I def felt like I reached rock bottom at the time, but after moving to a new city and making new friends and getting a new job helped me move on into better times. But that experienced made me stronger and I know I can get through it next time a rough patch happens.

Chinese Tomato and Egg Stir Fry Recipe
Happy 2 weeks of social distancing during this time period end of March 2020.
It's been a while since I made a recipe. After personal stresses dealing with grad school, finishing clinical rotations, and finding a new job, and then figuring out work/life balance has occupied most of my time, but I want to go back to making videos and blogging again.
So here's my attempt to vlog Ep 1- cooking sesh.
Here's the link to the video I made!
This chinese tomato and egg stir fry recipe is something I ate as a kid growing up. My mom would make this for dinner and it seemed so simple. I looked in the fridge and I had all the ingredients so I decided to give it a go.
Ingredients: (makes 2-3 servings)
- 3 eggs
- 3 roma tomatoes
- salt
- pepper
- soy sauce
- 1 small scallion (or another other onion, green or white or yellow). I wanted to use up my scallions.
Method:
1.) Crack eggs in a bowl and whisk together until creamy and smooth - as one consistency. Sprinkle salt and pepper and mix- to taste.
2.) slice tomatoes into smaller pieces.
3.) Dice onion.
4.) Prepare stir fry pan by heating pan on medium high. Sprinkle your choice of cooking oil in the pan and heat it up.
5.) Once oil is heated, add in the scallion and let it caramelize a little.
6.) Then add in the eggs and scramble them in the pan.
7.) When the eggs are a little more solidified, put the rest of the tomatoes in the pan and stir fry until soft and cooked.
8.) Add salt, pepper, soy sauce to taste.
9.) Put in a plate and serve!
10.) I served with rice and a side of raw baby kale. :)
Bon Appetit!

from 2016 to 2017
I had some time so I decided to jot down from my memory what happened in 2016. I made a video with snippets of events that happened in 2016. I know I missed some stuff but there were too many pictures to sort through. I failed to edit the photos because that would just make me procrastinate on finishing this project more.

A lot of things has happened this year. I started off the new year in San Francisco (what better way than being in my favorite area of cali). After the new years vacation, I went back to school in full force. Completed my 2nd year of optometry school, including finishing up my big practical. I finally finished completing retakes and remediations that year. I also attended the OEP conference in March in Chicago. I made my first birthday dinner event that year and I cut my hair above the shoulders for the first time in a long time.
At the end of 2nd year, I attended the school's practice symposium and also went to a social networking event for dinner with docs.
That summer, I also transitioned from 2nd to 3rd year and was flung into clinic independently for the first time. During the summer, 3rd years also have to take classes and one of the most difficult classes for the summer was "retinal diseases". After 10 weeks of suffering, finally passed that course! I also went on random food adventures, checked out food trucks in chicago during the summer, because we gotta have some fun after working hard right?
Each year as 2nd and 3rd years we have to attend at least one vision screening in the community. For 3rd year, I went to a screening in Chinatown during the summer to get it done with sooner. It was an interesting experience because there was probably about 10 or so students plus 1 attending doctor signing off on each patient. Most of the patients were Chinese (primarily Cantonese speaking) and there was 4 of us who could speak Chinese only (and only 1 could speak Cantonese) so the Chinese speaking students ended up doing case histories and directing patient flow while the other students did the other non-verbal tests.
The American Optometry Association (AOA) was in Boston during the July 4th weekend some friends and I went to Boston then as well. It was my first time in Boston and I had a lovely time there during the summer.
-went to Summer House Santa Monica in Chicago
-went to New York City as a last minute trip decision.
-attended the American Academy of Optometry meeting in Anaheim and met up with friends in the area during that week.
-bought KMK prep books to study for boards, which I need to start seriously doing soon.

1st attempt at a make up tutorial
Used: Canon sx30is for the video shots,
Nikon J1 for the photos shoot.
I-movie: to edit and compile the video
DISCLAIMER:
Note that I am not trying to mimic any of the experienced make up gurus on Youtube. I just happened to use I-Movie so a lot of the video effects I used may be the same. I am no expert on make up; I mostly made this video to practice speaking into the microphones + practice my video editing. :)

:: Author's commentary ::
This is my first time making a make up look tutorial for an everyday/natural look, so sorry if it's not the look you wanted. But, I mainly made this video because I wanted to practice my public speaking/audio voice. I thought this was the best way to practice my speaking voice. And yes, I know I personally use a lot of Clinique products =_=''
Sorry I forgot to take a picture of the eyeliner I used, here is a link for reference: http://www.sephora.com/quickliner-for-eyes-intense-P305114 (I used the intense plum color).
Songs used: from the "Heartstrings" Korean drama Original Sound Track.
Thank you for watching and reading! :)
p.s. If you like what you see or have any constructive feedback, please let me know either by comment or like!
Videography Editing
I helped with the videography at the Taiwanese Heritage Week Concert.
I assisted with filming and editing the concert. The video below is the final product of my editing, where I edited the title, and added transitions and captions (of song titles) to the video.

My First (Video) Story
I realized I never posted this on my blog.
I made this in May 2011, right after sophomore year before I left to Taiwan for my internship/overseas exchange program.
The idea of this story: At first, I wanted to a stop motion video, which I attempted to do with my packing scene. Then I decided to create a script so that the scene wouldn't be so random.
---
I used I-Movie to edit. Voiceover, drawings, packing & leaving scene created by me.
All other images of Taiwan and LA found by doing a simple google search.
Music Credits (in order of appearance):
0330 by Ukiss
Bitter Tea(苦茶)instrumental from Brown Sugar Macchiato Original Soundtrack
Too Late (來不及)by Hebe Tian
Mr. Taxi by SNSD

Take some time and be thankful for those around you.
Thankful and grateful for friends and family.
The past: treasure and reminisce with loved ones, learn from past mistakes in order to improve and create better solutions.
The present: live in the moment, without regrets. Remember the past, but don't dwell and remorse again and again. Remorse and then reflect how to change the mistake for tomorrow!
The future: Have a general idea what you want your future to be, set realistic future goals, whether it's career, education, family, friends. But always be flexible and be open to changes. We can take preventive measures in the future but we can't predict everything so welcome and accept new ideas and challenges! :) Be cautious about the future but not over-anxious to the point that you can't "live in the now".
